RADIO IS THE HERO

It’s heartbreaking hearing about the devastation sweeping across New Zealand with recent floods , a cyclone and earthquake. It’s one of the worst weather events in the country’s history.

Lives have been lost, families being forced to evacuate their homes, farms & livestock washed away and hundreds of thousands of people are without power.

But one hero through it all is RADIO

The radio stations are doing an incredible job delivering important, essential information about food, medicine and fuel supplies and just generally being there for the people.

On the government website they have posted this message –

Radio

If the power goes out, a solar- or battery-powered radio (or your car radio) can help you keep up to date with the latest news. In an emergency, tune to these stations:

Radio New Zealand
The Hits
NewstalkZB
MoreFM
Today FM

Check with you Civil Defence Emergency Management Group to find out what local stations they recommend you should listen to during an emergency.

Radio is reliable, it’s loyal, it’s essential.

When a disaster like this happens, we realise just how important radio is.

Congratulations to the New Zealand Radio Industry.
